Student Teaching Evaluation WorkgroupFall, 2004In June of 2003, the Connecticut State Department of Education convened a Title II workgroup to review state teaching standards and develop an instrument to be used statewide for the purpose of assessing student teaching performance. The committee was charged with the task of developing an instrument for assessing student teaching performance that would be aligned with the Connecticut Common Core of Teaching (CCCT) and be part of the unit assessment system as required under National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) standards pursuant to Connecticut Program Approval Regulations which stipulate that all teacher preparation programs shall:
The Student Teaching Evaluation Rubric and related forms are intended for use statewide by the 15 Connecticut teacher preparation institutions and the Alternate Route to Certification (ARC) Program in assessing student teacher performance in order to determine the candidate's competency and eligibility for Connecticut certification.
