Title II

Connecticut-England Exchange Project

One of the objectives of the Title II TQE State Grant was to support a systemic exchange of information between Connecticut and England (Teacher Traning Agency and Saint Martin's College) regarding performance based assessment models for teacher preparation and induction.

Between 2001 and 2002, representatives from the Connecticut State Department of Education and Connecticut teacher preparation institutions and K-12 schools traveled to England to observe and learn about the English system of teacher training and induction. Similarly, representatives from England's Teacher Training Agency and Saint Martin's College visited Connecticut to learn about Connecticut's teacher preparation process and the induction process implemented through the Beginning Educator Support and Training (BEST) Program. A group of teachers from England also participated in and were trained in the BEST Portfolio Assessment and Support Process.

This exchange initiative is described and documented in the paper titled: "Teacher Preparation and Induction in Connecticut in England".
